Overview:
This book cover was created as an assignment for my Typography class, involving graduate students a part of Arcadia University's Creative Writing program who are working towards creating their novel. This assignment was meant to be a form of motivation for the grad students to be able to visualize what their books could actually look like one day.
Roles: Researcher, Illustrator
Software: Illustrator, Procreate, InDesign, Photoshop

This book takes place over three decades, and the main character is a photographer who eventually gets Alzheimer's and begins forgetting how to do photography. So I wanted the book to feel like you are looking through a lens that's not quite in focus to relate to the character's eventual mental state.

Challenges:
I created the book layout in InDesign, which was a bit of a challenge to make sure all the text fit nicely and did not get too close to the cover and back cover of the book. It was also challenging to design a concept for this book cover, as the book's description is so detailed, I almost felt like an impostor trying to design a cover for what seemed like an already established book.

If I were to go back, I think I would find mockups that are more visually intriguing and out in the world so that the author could really visualize what their book would look like.
